Back to the news list Pink Lady plans to open its first "flagship store"
18 July 2019 - Media Release - Fresh Plaza
Since Pink Lady apples were launched, their popularity has gradually increased. In the 2018 campaign, 7,000 tons were harvested in the provinces of Lleida and Gerona, which recorded stable sales, mainly in the domestic market, but with a small share exported to destinations such as the United Kingdom, Israel and the Persian Gulf.

In recent years, Pink Lady has boosted its presence with its introduction into some of Spain's largest distribution chains and major regional retailers. The company acknowledged that fruit shops are a very relevant target for the brand and is studying the possibility of opening its first flagship store in Spain.

Variety number one in Europe
This variety, which results from the crossing between the Golden Delicious and the Lady Williams, has become the number one apple in Europe, with 170,000 tons marketed this season, despite the adverse weather conditions at the continental level.

In the 2018-2019 season, there has been a remarkable increase in sales in three markets: the Netherlands, with 11,000 tons (15% more); France (22,500 tons, 14% more) and the United Kingdom (33,000 tons, 9% more).

At a European corporate level, Pink Lady is working on its Imagine 2025 strategy, aimed at reaching the 275,000 tons produced in Europe.

At present, Pink Lady has more than 2,600 producers in Spain, France and Italy, with the activity generating around 10,000 jobs, including direct and indirect.
