Back to the news list Fysium to control apple ripening
11 July 2018 - Media Release - Fresh Plaza
The Fysium has been used for controlling the ripening of apples for several years now. Countries like Australia, South Africa, the United States, and most countries in the northern and western parts of Europe use this innovative 1-MCP technology. Italy has also been able to use this technology since January 2018. This is thanks to an agreement between Retarder from the Italian province of Cuneo and the Belgian Jansen Pharmaceutica.

"Retarder is now the exclusive seller in Italy. Fysium is a 1-MCP generator and is now being used in Italy for the first time", says Luca Rivoira, Retarder's Sales Manager. The company specialises in technological solutions for maintaining and controlling the storage quality of fruit and vegetables.

"Our commercial season has started. We will manufacture cells fitted with the Fysium system. These are destined for the important apple processing companies in Northern Italy and will be operational in August 2018", says Rivoira.
