Australia’s Flinders Island has been declared free of fruit fly, with restrictions officially lifted from 12.01am Saturday, March 30.  It means the regular movement of fruit fly host produce for Flinders Island can now resume, however residents are cautioned to remain vigilant.

It follows the January 9 lifting of restrictions for Northern Tasmania and means the whole of the state now has a pest free status.  The state government recently commenced an independent review into Tasmania's QFF response.

Examiner.com.au explains that Biosecurity Tasmania staff will continue to monitor a number of permanent fruit fly traps across the island into the future.
