10 December 2019 - Media Release - Fructidor
According to crop estimates in Argentina, volumes for this 2019/20 crop year are expected to be similar to the previous season and export levels are also expected to remain stable.

According to a USDA GAIN study, crop estimates in Argentina for the 2019/20 crop year indicate 550,000 tonnes for apples and 590,000 tonnes for pears, which corresponds to the levels of the 2018/19 crop year.

With regard to exports, their levels should remain stable compared to the previous season with 90 000 tonnes for apples and 300 000 tonnes for pears.

The economic and financial environment is difficult for the sector. Despite a sharp devaluation of the Argentine peso, which has improved the competitiveness of Argentine exports, structural problems have led to increased production costs, especially for small producers. The area of ??apples and pears is decreasing in the country which has lost 6,300 hectares in the last 10 years.
