The conveyor belts have finally stopped at Nelson’s Cedenco plant – bringing to an end 58-years of fruit processing and staff camaraderie.
Wednesday was the final day of processing at the Nayland Rd plant, formerly ENZA Foods, as the company centralises its operations at an expanded plant in Hastings.
At 6am on Thursday, the final bin from the Nelson plant was loaded for Australia with employees from all shifts signing their names on the box.
The gates at the plant will officially close on October 16.
Many of the staff here have at least 25 years’ service.
